Last season, Domoromo, a native of Portuguesa, Venezuela, hit .219 with three home runs and 36 runs batted in with Lake Elsinore. The Padres signed Domoromo as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2008. He played in 112 games in Fort Wayne in 2011 as a 19-year-old, hitting .283 with nine home runs and 68 runs batted in. In his five-season, 356-game Minor League Baseball career, Domoromo is hitting .245 with 19 home runs and 159 runs batted in.
Infielder Tyler Stubblefield signed to a minor-league contract and assigned to Fort Wayne. The 25-year-old native of Woodstock, Georgia, had been playing this season with the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League, an independent league. In 27 games, he hit .305 with two home runs and 12 runs batted in. At the end of spring training this year, Stubblefield, who was selected by San Diego in the 22nd round of the 2010 draft out of Kennesaw State University, was released by the organization. He played with the TinCaps in both 2011 and 2012, hitting .223 with no home runs and 18 RBI in 43 games in ’11, and hitting .252 with five home runs and 29 runs batted in during the ’12 season. In his MiLB career, spanning 227 games over four seasons, he is hitting .246 with nine home runs and 92 RBI.
Outfielder Jeremy Baltz activated from Fort Wayne’s disabled list and transferred to Advanced-A Lake Elsinore. Baltz, 22, had been on the disabled list since June 4th, and has not played in a game since May 28th. Despite missing the team’s final 19 games of the first half, he still finished tied for the team lead in runs batted in with 33. In 43 games, he hit .268 and connected on five home runs.
Pitcher Justin Hancock transferred from Fort Wayne to Advanced-A Lake Elsinore. Hancock, 22, led Midwest League starting pitchers in the first half of the 2013 season with a 1.73 ERA, and worked to a 5-1 record in 12 starts. In 67 2/3 innings, he struck out 44, walked 20 and had a .222 batting average against him. The Defiance, Ohio, native also pitched with Fort Wayne in 2012, going 0-4 with a 6.95 ERA in 13 appearances. Since being selected in the ninth round of the 2011 draft by San Diego, Hancock, in 51 career games (36 starts), is 10-10 with a 3.39 ERA in 207.0 innings.
The TinCaps roster currently stands at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.
