Intergenerational Activities

(June 28, 2013) — Would you like to enjoy some special, alone time with your child or grandchild? The Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Community Center has some great activities for children and adults to do together! Call 260-427-6000 to register or register online at www.fortwayneparks.org.

Creative Construction: LEGO Building Challenge

Friday, July 12, 5:30 – 8 pm, Fee: $10 per team

Community Center, 233 W. Main Street

How creative are you with a bucket of Legos? Join the Lego Building Challenge and find out! Boys and girls ages 5-12 may choose one adult partner to form a team. Each team will receive a pre-sorted kit of various LEGO pieces (provided by Pack Rats Mini Mart) and 2½ hours to construct a project with the designated theme. Each project will be named, tagged and displayed at the Community Center along with a picture of the team who constructed it. While the projects are on display, spectators will be able to come by and vote for their favorite, so you will want to spread the word among your family and friends. Voting will begin Saturday, July 13 (1:30-4:30 pm) and continue the following Monday -Thursday, July 15 -18 (8 am -7 pm). The votes will then be tallied and the top three teams will receive gift cards provided by sponsor Hamilton Hunter Builders. Happy building! Registration deadline: July 8. Registration Code: 343910-S1

  • “The President’s doomsday scenarios are of his own choosing,” Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., argued in response to Cutter’s email. “The sequester will cut 2.3 percent, or $85 billion, from the massive $3.55 trillion the federal government is projected to spend this year alone. To put that percentage in perspective, we borrow that much money every 28 days. If the President can’t cut that much, he’ll never cut anything.”
