On March 3, 2009, the recently created Northeast Indiana Passenger Rail Association held a press conference to announce a Rally for Rail to be held at the Baker Street Train Station. The rally will be on Friday, April 3, 2009 at 4:30 pm. The purpose of the rally is to highlight the real possibility that passenger rail service can return to Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana in the foreseeable future.
