Headwaters Park Ice Rink Set-up

Leveling the sand

The annual set up of the Headwaters Park Ice Rink has begun.  The Zamboni shed has been built and work has begun on the sandbox.  A huge sandbox is constructed.  This involves first covering the fountain that runs down the middle of the plaza with heavy metal plates to protect it from the weight of the ice, skaters and Zamboni.  From there, a wooden frame is built which is approximately 120′ x 60′.  This is then filled with sand and leveled.  The next step will be to unroll the huge coils of tubing which circulate the coolant.  I will be posting photo updates and commentary as the set-up proceeds.
