Tickets go on sale Friday for Kenny Rogers concert at Trine University

ANGOLA, Ind. (January 29, 2015) – Country music legend Kenny Rogers is sure to awe fans when he performs in May at the Ryan Concert Hall, T. Furth Center for Performing Arts at Trine University.

Rogers, known for hits such as “The Gambler” and “Lucille” is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 8. Tickets, which go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, are available at trine.edu/furth. Prices are $50, $75 and $90. The concert is sponsored by the Rick L. and Vicki L. James Foundation.

For more than 50 years, Rogers has entertained audiences with memorable songs, including “Lady,” “She Believes in Me” and duet “Islands in the Stream” performed with Dolly Parton. He was voted “Favorite Singer of All-Time” in a joint poll in 1986 by readers of USA Today and People. Other career highlights include:

  • Three Grammy awards, 11 People’s Choice Awards, 18 American Music Awards, eight Academy of Country Music awards and five Country Music Association Awards among other awards
  • Twenty-four No. 1 hits, including “We’ve Got Tonight”
  • “Greatest Hits” album that has sold more than 24 million copies worldwide
  • One Diamond album, 19 Platinum albums and 31 Gold albums
  • Sales of more than 120 million records worldwide with more than 65 albums recorded
  • Albums “The Gambler” and “Kenny” are featured in About.com poll of “The 200 Most Influential Country Albums Ever”

In his 52nd year as an entertainer, Rogers shows no signs of stopping as he continues to tour around the country and world. Currently, he’s headlining the Farewell Down Under Tour in Australia, with plans for performances in the United States beginning in March.

“I really, really love what I’m doing,” Rogers said in an article on his website, kennyrogers.com. “People survive longer if they love what they’re doing, because you just don’t quit.”

The T. Furth Center for Performing Arts is located at 500 W. Maumee St.

Other upcoming shows

  • Music legend Leon Russell is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27. Tickets, available at trine.edu/furth, are $30, $35 and $40.
  • Trine University’s Free Concert Series includes two February concerts by the Trine Music Department. The Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The Orchestra and Vocal Ensemble will give a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22.
